Rose Marie, 94, is an actress, singer and comedian whose TV sitcoms include “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” She is the subject of “Wait for Your Laugh,” a new documentary about her nine-decade career. She spoke with Marc Myers.

In 1933, when I was 10, I was working the Palace Theatre in Chicago when a guy told my father that someone wanted to see us. Outside the stage door, a heavyset man with a scar on his face was standing in front of a limo. I later learned it was Al Capone.
