For his latest film, ”The Shape of Water,” Guillermo Del Toro spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of his own money developing a creature that he felt a human could believably fall in love with. Drawing inspiration from Universal Studio’s 1954 film “The Creature From The Black Lagoon,” “The Shape of Water” takes the human-monster love story to new territory, exploring both the emotional and physical side of the central characters’ connection.
